From where I stand… by accident

Looking through my archives, it would appear one of my favourite things to take photos of is… my feet. In a non-kinky manner – just because they’re always with me and they show where I’ve been, I suppose. (I blame Susannah Conway…)

(and apologies if you get this twice – I have been fighting with technology this evening!)

Here are a few, from May and June this year.

[plans and goals] Club 20 Week 8

Eight weeks of Club 20!

A brief reminder that my goals were:

1) Meditate daily to improve sleep

2) Cook from scratch at least once a week

3) Move (walk, dance, bike, skate) at least three times a week

Another week with zero meditation – I’m only halfheartedly cross with myself as I’m still sleeping better and that was the intention behind starting. And I still have my year’s subscription if I find I’m not sleeping or I need to nudge myself back into it. Or if, indeed, I find myself with time to simply learn to meditate!

However, on the cooking front I barbecued for friends twice, and made chicken fajitas (do they count?!) one evening after work too. So I’m pleased with that – and can’t quite believe the iconic bbq that I’ve loved for so long is in my garden and mine after sixteen years!!

And exercise – I have been walking with Mum, walking and jogging with the dogs (and throwing myself on the ground on occasion, I must figure out how to be less clumsy and more elegant) and swimming with Shaz and Wendy.

All of which I think works out to a very good week!

Approaching the half way mark, I’m starting to think about the goals I might have for the next round of club 20. Giving up fizzy drinks may be on that list…

[inspiration] my first Cybher

When we booked tickets back in May 2012, I had no idea a year would pass so quickly. I had no idea what I’d do, what I’d achieve, what I’d feel in one year, and I couldn’t have imagined, then, having this life of mine by the time Cybher rolled around.

[happy things] compare the meerkat toy is on its way!

Coming in this evening to a renewal quote of £224.24 for my contents insurance, I got to work on the comparing sites. Comparethemarket.com came up trumps and found me extended cover for £96.03 with Legal & General – and then told me that A MEERKAT TOY IS COMING MY WAY!!!

I know, I know, I shouldn’t be so excited – but I love meerkats and I’m ridiculously pleased 🙂 AND I saved nearly £130 in the process. Win.

Simples!

(Disclaimer: this post is in no way affiliated with or sponsored by comparethemarket.com – I just love meerkats and am chuffed to have saved money!)

The Green photo challenge

The lovely Nina has set a photo challenge for the month of June – though we could choose our own theme, hers was green and a few of us have decided to join that theme rather than faff about choosing one of our own and fail before we’d started 🙂

My photos for this challenge can be found in my “Green” photoset on Flickr – or below!

[AFG_gallery id=’1′]

If you’d like to join us, pop over, leave a comment on the challenge page and let us know where you’re posting them – Instagram, Facebook, Flickr, your own blog or site – it doesn’t matter where 🙂

[experiences] a most fabulous weekend of blogging, connecting and ideas

Just a speedy one as it’s somehow half past eleven on a Sunday night as I type, and I have work tomorrow – eeek! More on all of this when it’s less late…

Sneaky snap of my glorious neon pink Cybher satchel from the Leather Satchel Company 🙂

Short version: Saturday: Cybher, fabulous people, fizzing with ideas, squeee. Sunday: amazing brunch, the visual feast that is the Beth Chatto gardens and a blissful sunshine-filled afternoon with Mum & Dad, using the bbq for the first time.

[events] Cybher 2013 is TOMORROW!

Tomorrow… honestly, where has an entire year gone?! I remember Annastasia and I booking our tickets in a fit of excitement just after the last one, when all my feeds and timelines were flooded with people squeaking excitedly over it.

And now it’s our turn!

For the uninitiated, Cybher is a blogger’s conference held annually in London. Which means I get to spend an entire day surrounded by likeminded women who are as geeky, quirky and off-the-wall as me! (Yes, I can see you quaking with fear at the very thought…)

I have no idea what to wear yet, but I suspect polka dots will be involved. I have a list as long as my arm – charge camera, install apps on tablet, make sure I have business cards, remember to take pens…

There is an incredible schedule, but the thing I’m looking forward to most, as always, is getting to know people – it’s fabulous to read blogs, but unspeakably lovely to meet people in real life – especially when those people don’t react to the word “blog” as though you’ve said something in alien speak 🙂

See you there, ladies!

Hyde Park break

Living the self-employed dream with Annastasia, the other half of Ink Drops – tea in Hyde Park after a trade show in the morning and a meeting in Green Park, accompanied by cupcakes

shoes in progress

Peeling leather off shoes is surprisingly enjoyable – these ones were finally knackered and unsuitable for continued wear (they did pretty well, they were a 21st birthday present from an ex). I’m now in the process of taking off the straps and reworking the heels with words cut from Philip Pullman’s Northern Lights trilogy. (a copy that would otherwise have been pulped, and was already beyond repair. This way, it continues to live…).

It would appear you really can take the girl out of the library, but not the library out of the girl…
